- Convert an oral board discussion into the reported-speech register a minute has to survive discovery in.
- Backshift tenses correctly across present, present-perfect, past, future and modal forms.
- Choose the reporting verb — advised, confirmed, cautioned, reminded, undertook, resolved, noted, recommended — that carries the right weight of evidence.
- Narrow a reported commitment with appended phrases — subject to, on the basis of, in respect of — that point at a specific document in the audit trail.
