7. Listening — 'The most unusual thing I've ever done'
Three people at a dinner party answer the same question: 'What's the most unusual thing you've ever done?'

Elena · Ana:The most unusual thing I've ever done? I sang solo at my cousin's wedding. In front of two hundred people. I'm not a singer — I've never had a lesson in my life — but she asked, and I said yes. I was terrified. And it's honestly the proudest thirty seconds of my whole life.
Vasco · Lars:I've slept in an ice hotel. Twice, actually — both times in northern Sweden. The walls are ice, the bed is ice with reindeer skins on top, and it's minus five degrees inside. It's beautiful. It's also very, very cold.
Diana · Priya:Believe it or not, I've never been on a plane. Not once, in my whole life. But I've travelled a lot — I've taken the train across five countries in Europe, and I've been on a boat from Italy to Greece. So I've seen things. Just not from the sky.

8. Writing — Three experiences
Write 100–120 words about three of your own life experiences. Include: (a) at least ONE sentence with 'have/has ever' as a question, (b) at least ONE sentence with 'have/has never', (c) at least ONE present-perfect sentence followed by a past-simple detail (when / where / with whom), (d) at least ONE 'have/has already' or 'so far this year' sentence. End with ONE question you would ask a stranger to get to know them.

9. Reflection (discursive)
Answer each in 2 full sentences.
- Look at your 'I have never …' list. Which 'never' would you most like to turn into a 'yes, once' — and what has stopped you so far?
- The text says 'have you ever…?' is 'a small invitation to tell a story'. Write about a time somebody asked you a 'have you ever…?' question and you gave a longer answer than you expected. Why did that question open you up?
