Warm-up · Prime the case (5 min, solo)

Two micro-drills that pull directly from 9A (async rituals + contrast/purpose clauses) and 9B (uncountable nouns + high/low context). Do both before opening the scenario — they are the tools you'll need.

Drill 1 — Async ritual + PURPOSE clause

For each ritual, complete it out loud with a PURPOSE clause (so that… / in order to… / in case…) that makes the WHY explicit.

  1. 'We set an overlap window of 12:00–14:00 UTC…'

  2. 'Every decision goes into the log with owner and date…'

  3. 'The on-call rotation follows the sun…'

  4. 'We keep a written handoff at every regional boundary…'

Drill 2 — Fix the noun, name the context

Each line has ONE grammar error (uncountable / plural-only noun) AND ONE cross-cultural risk. Fix both.

  1. 'The staff in Tokyo is uncomfortable with the 21:00 launch. Can you give me a feedback?'

  2. 'We have three informations from São Paulo and no news from Berlin.'

  3. 'The Berlin headquarters is asking for an advice on the embargo.'

Bridge to the case → You now have the two moves the case study will demand: (a) every ritual you propose must carry a PURPOSE clause; (b) every message you draft must use precise uncountable/plural nouns AND name the high/low-context read of the room. Open the scenario.

(1) Write the LAUNCH-DAY OPERATING AGREEMENT (max 120 words) — four testable norms: how the global spine + regional wrappers work; how on-call handoffs happen; how cross-cultural disagreement is surfaced in the war room; how a WRITTEN yes is captured. Signed by all three regional heads and you. (2) Write the WRITTEN NOTE to Haruki confirming the third-option Tokyo arrangement (max 60 words). (3) Write the ONE-line launch spine that all three regions will say in their own tone at 12:00 UTC. Every document uses at least ONE uncountable noun and ONE cross-cultural clause of contrast or purpose correctly.
