Business B1 · Unit 7 · Case study

Case Study 7 · The florist that lost its regulars

Duration: 30 min

Warm-up

Warm-up · Prime the case (5 min, solo)

Two quick drills that use Unit 7 language: (A) a 1st-conditional sales close, and (B) a customer-service recovery phrase.

Drill 1 — 1st conditional close

Complete each sales sentence with the correct 1st-conditional form.

  1. If you (subscribe) to the weekly bouquet today, we (throw) in a small vase.

  2. Unless we (hear) from you by Friday, we (re-open) your Friday slot.

  3. If you (introduce) a friend, we (add) €10 to your account.

  4. When you (renew) for a second month, we (unlock) the seasonal-blooms tier.

Drill 2 — customer-service recovery

Match the function to the phrase.

  1. Acknowledge (no defence)

  2. Verify (short question)

  3. Resolve (one specific action)

  4. Goodwill (small, unforced extra)

Bridge to the case → The case will demand two moves: (a) a written subscription offer that closes new customers on a 1st-conditional; (b) a customer-service policy that saves the old regulars who are quietly disappearing.
