Warm-up · Prime the case (5 min, solo)

Two quick drills that use language from Unit 1: (A) a short self-introduction using present simple + continuous, and (B) an adverb of frequency in the correct place.

Drill 1 — 30-second self-intro

You have just been hired as a manager at a small bakery. Write your 3-sentence introduction to the current staff (5 people). Use ONE sentence in present simple and ONE in present continuous.

  1. Sentence 1 (name + role):

  2. Sentence 2 (routine, present simple):

  3. Sentence 3 (this week, present continuous):

Drill 2 — Adverb in the right place

Move the adverb in brackets to the correct position.

  1. We open at 6:30. (always)

  2. The morning rush is over by 9. (usually)

  3. We can sell out of croissants by 10. (sometimes)

Bridge to the case → Two moves the case will demand: (a) a clear, human self-introduction to a small team on day one; (b) describing what happens on a NORMAL day at the bakery so you can propose small, realistic changes — not big ones.
